FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Palmyra Public Safety – Police Division
On May 19, 2026, the Palmyra Public Safety Police Division received notification from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections regarding a registered sex offender reportedly moving to or changing residence within the Village of Palmyra. Initial information indicated the individual met statutory criteria for dissemination of a special bulletin notification to law enforcement.
After further communication and review, it was determined the individual is not currently on active Department of Corrections supervision and is presently only subject to the requirements applicable to registered sex offenders under Wisconsin law.
The Village of Palmyra Board and Palmyra Public Safety have been discussing the possible development of a local ordinance addressing sex offender residency and related considerations. Similar discussions occurred under previous Village Boards and prior police administrations and are now continuing.
The Palmyra Public Safety Police Division has received numerous calls from residents and business owners regarding this matter. We appreciate the community’s engagement and value the feedback, concern, and commitment to the safety and security of our community.
Residents who wish to share their opinions regarding any future ordinance are encouraged to contact Village Board members and participate in public discussions and meetings.
Thank you,
Paul Blount
Director of Public Safety
Interim Police Chief
